The government of India is planning to implement a quality and affordable healthcare mission for near 50cr. people across the country. After completion of the foundation ceremony of Tomo Riba Institute of Health & Medical science, Prime minister of India Narendra Modi has addressed about the ‘Ayushman Bharat Yojna’ in the public rally at the Indira Gandhi Park in Itanagar. He has also mentioned that the scheme, invoiced as the World’s largest government-funded health care programme. It is a path-breaking initiative taken by the GOI, which will provide a ‘paradigm Shift’ in the healthcare sector, in addition to it, he also added to his speech that all the state government have to frame new health policy for the Scheme. The union minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Shri  Arun Jaitley announced about two major initiatives as a part of ‘Ayushman Bharat Yojna’ for health sector during presenting Budget 2018-2019.

The first initiative is to construct Health and Wellness Centre. The National Health policy,2017 has visualized Wellness and Health centers as the foundation of India’s health system. With an aggregation of 1.5 lakh centers will offer health service to the people next to their doors. A comprehensive health care service will be provided through this action plan like the child and maternal health service and non-communicable diseases. These centers will also provide free essential drugs and diagnostic services. The Budget has arisen a fund of Rs.1200 crore for this programme. The contribution of the private sector through CSR and Philanthropic institutions in adopting these centers is also envisaged.

The second flagship programme under the ‘Ayushman Bharat Yojna ‘is National health protection scheme. Through this programme approx 10 crore poor and vulnerable families will be benefitted. This flagship Programme will provide up to 5 lakh rupees per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization. Adequate funds will be provided for smooth implementation of this programme. Entirely these two flagship programmes will not only create a New India 2022 and will provide an assurance of boost in productivity, well being and impoverishment but also will give birth to many employment opportunities, especially for women.

For improvising of medical education and health care or to provide the quality health services 24 new government medical colleges and the hospital will be set up and all the existing district hospital’s systems will be upgraded in the country. This would also ensure that there will be at least one medical college for every three parliamentary constitutions and at least one government medical college in each state of the country. This scheme will ease the medical and health care access for the general people of the nation.
