Helmed by Neeraj Pandey, Aiyaary has finally hit the big screens on February 16, 2018. The film was put on hold due to its certification process. For the uninitiated, Defence Ministry delayed Sidharth Malhotra starrer because of Adarsh scam reference in the movie? Since it is of the army backdrop, the Ministry of Defence wanted to see the film if the Indian army is projected in a balanced light. Well, after receiving clearance from CBFC, the film was finally released on February 16, 2018, but unfortunately, the film has failed to receive a clearance for release in Pakistan. Pakistan has now banned Siddharth Malhotra starrer Aiyaary for showing corruption in the army and a negative portrayal of Pakistan. In a statement to Deccan Chronicle, a source said, “Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI has refused to issue a NOC for the film.” Interestingly, Aiyaary had to get a NOC from the Indian Army too.
The film earlier got in trouble with the Central Board of Film Certification in India too and the makers were asked to get a clearance from the Ministry of Defence. Aiyaary was initially set to release on January 26. With the release date of Akshay Kumar's PadMan getting pushed from January 25 to February 9 to allow for a solo release for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat, Aiyaary was forced to move its release to February 16 from the earlier February 9. After the changes suggested by Defence Ministry were incorporated, the censor board finally gave Aiyaary a certificate on February 6, just 10 days before its release date.
