Mumbai from the last week has witnessed the vibe of enthusiasm and determination. Over 35,000 farmers from Northern Maharashtra marched barefoot, yes barefoot and covered the distance of 180 km from Nashik to Mumbai. They covered up to 30 km per day in this scorching heat of Mumbai.

The rally was led by All India Kisan Sabha. Their demand was simple and logical. Complete waiver of loans and electricity bills. The yield of the crop was not as expected and thus farmers had to take such a step. The rally was totally non-violent and the farmers respected the government's request of not creating any problem for the public residing in public by blocking roads.   The rally was supported by the citizens residing between Nashik and Mumbai. They provided the farmers with food and other necessities. The farmers were welcomed in Mumbai with flowers and food.
The dabbawalas of Mumbai provided food to the thousands of farmers gathered at Azad Maidan.

Some celebrities statements regarding this. They are mentioned below.
Riteish Deshmukh: Farmers walked 180 km, asking for the rightful compensation for their crop. On their last stretch, they walked all night making sure they didn't disturb the SSC board examinations. Compassion, respect, salute, Jai Kisan.
Kunal Kemmu: I feel very emotional listening to the plight of the farmers and their stories. Walking barefoot and with bare necessities and still being as patient, calm and disciplined. I really hope we find a way to help end the prolonged ordeal of the backbone of this country - Jai Kisan!

Today a meeting was held between AIKS leaders and government officials, which turned out to be positive. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that they have accepted most of their demands and have given them an assurance in writing. Loan waiver scheme will be implemented. The farmers may not get a complete waiver of loans, but the government will discuss it further. Forest Rights Act which assures land ownership to tribal farmers will be passed within 6 months across the state. the third assurance was that a committee will be formed to discuss remunerative prices and this will also have members from the farmers’ committee.

The AIKS then withdrew their protests and thus,  a rally which is considered as equivalent to the Dandi March by some ended on a positive note. Central Railway will run two special trains from Mumbai's CSMT to Bhusawal at 8.50 pm and 10.00 pm on Monday to send the agitating farmers back.
