In 1990, on the last day of Wellington's Shell Trophy match between Canterbury and Christchurch. Where Bert Vance was given the over. The idea was to get them close to the target and then when they think they can win and hit freely we will start taking wickets.

So Bert Vance went for the over and threw 17 no-balls and 5 legitimate balls.To which the last batsman of Canterbury hit 77 runs. With 8 sixes and 6 fours. That many no-balls confused everyone even the umpire and they lost the count of legitimate balls. Hence Vance was only allowed to throw 5 balls.
